Born in Los Angeles and now calling Napa, California, home, Kelli Leydecker loves a good adventure and believes that laughter is essential to life. She’s always seeking new experiences, staying active, and finding joy in life’s simple moments.
What age are you, and what age do you feel like?
I’m 67, but I usually feel like I’m in my early 50s—sometimes even younger, though there are days I definitely feel 82!
What are you looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to watching my children and grandchildren explore and enjoy life. I’m also excited about traveling more and discovering new places.
What do you most like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy walking and hiking, reading, watching movies, traveling, spending time with friends, and simply appreciating life.
What is your favorite time of year?
My favorite time of year is autumn—crisp, clean air; chilly mornings; crunchy leaves; spicy smells; and slower, cozier days.
What is something you do now that you didn’t do before 45?
Something I do every day now that I didn’t do before 45 is walk about four miles. I also dedicate at least 30 minutes each day to practicing my Spanish lessons.
What thing in your life had the most impact on who you are now?
Walking the Camino de Santiago by myself in 2016 had the most profound impact on who I am today. Over five weeks and 560 miles, I learned to live simply, prioritize kindness, stay strong and resilient, remain optimistic, and appreciate the small things that bring joy. I walked the full route again in 2022 with my adult daughter and have since completed two additional 100 km routes—one in 2019 and another in 2024.
