Stories about your rambles, whether in faraway lands, your hometown, or your own backyard.

RAMBLE LOGS

Portugal, 🇵🇹- Naomi Weisman

Portugal captured our hearts in every way—from its sun-drenched coastlines and ancient cities to its rich culture, incredible food, and warm, welcoming people. Traveling at a slower pace allowed us to truly soak it all in, savoring each stop instead of simply checking it off a list. Whether we were wandering through medieval towns, kayaking into sea caves, or enjoying a glass of wine in a lively square, we felt completely immersed in the magic of the momen

Introduction to Vietnam 🇻🇳 - Tara Romoff

Vietnam is a country of rich history, vibrant culture, and mouth-watering food, where tradition seamlessly blends with modern life. From the bustling streets of Hanoi to the serene landscapes of the countryside, there’s always something exciting to discover.

Sole Sisters in Morocco 🇲🇦 - Sonia Clark

We began as travelers, but ended as sisters. This adventure through Morocco was more than a journey across landscapes—it was a celebration of sisterhood, laughter, and shared dreams. To my Sole Sisters—Betty, Soan, and Cheryl—thank you for the memories. Until the next ramble!

Vancouver Island Rambler in New Zealand 🇨🇦 - Jane Jacek

Picture 1,000 caravans and RVs lined up in neat rows, all equidistant from each other—a remarkable sight. Music and dancing were the highlights each evening, while hiking and biking filled our days.

Driving with Random Dogs 🇨🇦 Carole Rinas

Have you ever wanted to drive from Kelowna, British Columbia, to Pensacola, Florida? In someone else’s car? With someone else’s two dogs? Yeah, me neither… but that’s exactly what I did in September 2022!

Newfoundland 🇨🇦- Joanne Collins

My husband’s heart attack led us to embrace a healthier lifestyle. This life-changing event also sparked a new hobby for us: hiking. We now seek out destinations with the best hiking trails, and Newfoundland proved to be a Rambler’s paradise.

Trekking to Paro Taktsang, Bhutan 🇧🇹 - Sandi

We are encouraged to sit here in peace for a while, meditating, resting, contemplating this journey. It's been a long walk. It's been a lot to take in. It feels good to sit. Just here, now, in near-silence. In sunlight.

A Monk's Trail Chiang Mai 🇹🇭 - Jill Thomas
The trail pops out at the lovely Wat Pha Lat temple. Temples abound in these parts, but this one is a bit sweeter than the rest. It feels mystic, with the jungle encroaching on all sides.
Two Sole Sisters in Greece 🇬🇷 - Betty Hansen & Joan Lee
We met in our Sole Circle, discovered we were neighbors and a year later walked a 1,000-year-old Byzantine road, and visited ancient archaeological sites and swam in the Aegean Sea.
Pilgrim Trails of Spain & Portugal 🇪🇸 🇵🇹 - Linda Jefferies

Walking four Caminos has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. Each has brought challenges, beauty, and meaning, shaping who I am and giving me memories I'll cherish forever.

Coast-to-Coast Hike 🇬🇧 - Sandy Curry
We may not have been fast or graceful, but we did it—just one foot in front of the other, sometimes loving it, sometimes hating it, but with such a feeling of satisfaction at finishing.
Karijini National Park 🇦🇺 - Colleen McCutcheon
Karijini, a place that's truly off the beaten path, offers a unique adventure worth adding to your bucket list! The allure of its rugged beauty and the thrill of its adventures are calling me back.
North Shore Lake Superior 🇨🇦 - Joanne Collins
Every time we visit we discover more gems and interesting paths. The Indigenous people call this lake “Gitche Gumee,” meaning “Great Sea,” and it has a spiritual attraction that keeps us going back.
Skookumchuk, British Columbia 🇨🇦 - Sandi

The Skookumchuck Narrows is a passage through which 200 billion gallons of water surges twice a day. If you listened to the logger stories back in the day, there were plenty of hair-raising tales of misadventure on this coast, and this area figured in quite a few.

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib 🇮🇳 - Tara Romoff

Every day the temple hosts 10,000 guests feeding each one of them a hot meal free of charge. I felt amazed by the huge amount of guests and that the entire operation was run by volunteers.

Reflections From The Caldera, Santorini 🇬🇷 - Lyndi Allison
I rambled the Caldera from Fira to Oia in Santorini, Greece - a 10-km trek overlooking the Sea of Crete. It reminded me that out of the explosive eruptions and deepest depressions comes true beauty and that, I, too, can be redeemed.
Christmas on Kangaroo Island 🇦🇺 - Colleen McCutcheon
On our final day, we discovered a cove called Emu Bay. Access was down a steep rock incline that opened up to a stunning white beach, as seen in the movies. We swam in the blue water while an artist sat on the rocks painting, and a couple fished.
Lynn Canyon, North Vancouver 🇨🇦 - Sandi
After 50+ years of haunting the trails around Lynn Canyon in North Vancouver getting past the concession area, over the bridge, and onto an actual trail is always sweet. Most of what was a simple dirt trail back in the days when "the canyon" was our playground is now a system of boardwalks with landings and stairs.
Nicaragua Adventure 🇳🇮 - Judy Smith
Without a doubt, I fell in love with Nicaragua—the beauty, resilience, kindness, and hope. I’ve been home for a long while, and I still find myself pondering the experience—it knocked me off-kilter excellently. This is a trip I highly recommend.
Jack Point & Biggs Park Nanaimo 🇨🇦 - Lauren White
There is always something to see—this ramble has it all: gorgeous views of the Salish Sea, plentiful and interesting boat traffic, pretty forested paths, seasonal wildflowers, interesting birds and wildlife and moderate to easy groomed hiking trails.
Bird Watching 🇦🇺 🇳🇿 - Naomi Weisman
The many rambles we experienced in New Zealand and Australia, with the incredible birds we’ve spotted, have cemented in my mind that I am destined to become a bird-watcher. I might even get a vest with excessive pockets, Teva sandals with the requisite dirty toes, and zip-away pants to match my binoculars!
