Frequently Asked Questions
This adventure starts in Antigua, Guatemala and ends in Caye Caulker Belize.
Our trips are intentionally designed for solo-ish travelers, and most women who join don’t know anyone else when they book.
Some women may join the trip with a friend but his experience is really about coming as you are and finding your people along the way.
Before the trip, we bring everyone together in a pre-trip WhatsApp group so you can start connecting early. It’s a lovely, low-key space to introduce yourself, ask questions, chat about packing or travel plans, and begin forming those bonds.
Sole Sister Ramblers and Intrepid are collaborating to take you beyond the everyday sights to see the hidden gems you might otherwise miss.
They will introduce you to the local people and culture at the heart of your trip.
It will be all about the hard-to-forget experiences in hard-to-find places.
You'll see all the highlights, but the real magic will happen off the beaten path, in the backstreet bodegas, local eateries, and other real-life experiences you won't find in a search engine.
You'll enjoy your adventure with other like-minded women in midlife and beyond, finding travel companions and friends that will last a lifetime.
You’ll have the chance to enjoy the wide variety of delicious food this region is known for.
Your local guide will suggest great places to eat along the way. To give you maximum flexibility—both in choosing where, what, and with whom you dine—not all meals are included in the trip price.
As a general rule, our groups tend to gather for dinner so everyone can sample a broader range of dishes and enjoy each other’s company, but there’s absolutely no obligation—it’s always your choice.
Food in Guatemala and Belize is a joyful part of the journey, offering comforting flavors, fresh ingredients, and a beautiful mix of cultures.
In Guatemala, you’ll enjoy hearty, home-style dishes influenced by Maya traditions—think warm corn tortillas, black beans, slow-cooked stews, fresh cheeses, and vibrant local vegetables.
Belize brings a lighter, Caribbean-influenced palate, with fresh seafood, tropical fruits, coconut-based dishes, rice and beans, and plenty of grilled flavors.
Meals are generally approachable with lots of fresh options, and there’s usually room to accommodate dietary needs.
Please let your local guide know about any dietary requirements before your trip begins.
In larger cities and towns, vegetarians can usually expect a reasonable range of vegetarian restaurants and/or vegetarian options on tourist-friendly menus. That said, vegetarianism isn’t common in this part of the world, so choices may be more limited at homestays, small local restaurants, street stalls, and markets.
More restrictive dietary needs—such as vegan, coeliac, gluten intolerance, fructose intolerance, or lactose intolerance—can generally be accommodated on this trip, but you should expect a more limited variety than you might be used to at home.
We recommend bringing a small supply of your favourite snacks, if possible, to help fill any gaps along the way.
In November, both Guatemala and Belize offer warm, comfortable weather that’s well suited to travel—especially for walking, sightseeing, and time outdoors.
In Guatemala, November marks the start of the dry season. Days are typically warm and sunny, with daytime temperatures ranging from the low 70s to low 80s°F (around 22–28°C), depending on elevation.
Evenings can be cooler, particularly in higher-altitude areas like Antigua, so light layers are helpful. Rainfall drops significantly compared to earlier months, and the landscapes are still lush and green from the rainy season.
In Belize, November is warm and tropical, with daytime temperatures usually in the low to mid-80s°F (around 27–30°C). It’s the tail end of the rainy season, so you may see the occasional short shower—often refreshing and brief—but there’s still plenty of sunshine.
Coastal areas and islands benefit from sea breezes, making it feel comfortable rather than oppressive.
