Ramble Ideas

Connecting and empowering women in midlife and beyond, one Ramble at a time.
What is a Ramble?
At Sole Sister Ramblers, Rambling is a mindset, an invitation to play, and a form of exercise rolled into one. It means moving our bodies in ways that bring us joy—whether that’s a walk or another activity.
Rambling teaches us that we don’t have to be athletes to enjoy being active, and yet we still reap all the benefits of living a vibrant, healthy life.
This is why our motto is . . . everywhere is in Rambling distance with Sole Sisters!

Co-Lead a Ramble
Some inspiration from Darlene Huff, a frequent Ramble Leader in several of the Sole Circles located on Vancouver Island, Canada!
This week, I had the joy of co-leading a hike with a fellow Sole Sister—and it reminded me just how powerful it is to walk alongside someone, both on the trail and in life.
In a world that often celebrates independence and “going it alone,” there’s something deeply refreshing about sharing leadership. Co-leading isn’t just about dividing responsibilities—it’s about multiplying strength, perspective, and joy. When one of us navigates the trail, the other may offer encouragement, a sense of direction, or a much-needed laugh. We bring different skills, different energies, and yet we move as one.
For women 50 and over, this kind of partnership is especially meaningful. We’ve spent decades nurturing others, building careers, managing households, and often pushing through challenges on our own.
However, in Sole Sisters, we’re reminded that we don’t have to do everything by ourselves. We lift each other up—literally and figuratively. Whether it's helping over a steep ridge or offering a steadying word when the path gets rocky, co-leading affirms that strength isn’t just in the stride, but in the shared steps.
The hike wasn’t just about getting to the top—it was about the conversations, the laughter, and the quiet understanding that we’re better together. With every mile, we built trust, camaraderie, and community. That’s what Sole Sisters is all about.
So here’s to partnership. Here’s to women supporting women. And here’s to the kind of leadership that doesn’t need to be loud or solo to be powerful.
Together, we go farther—and have a whole lot more fun doing it.
