Growing up on a farm just north of London, Ontario, Cathy now happily calls London home and is a vibrant, active member of Sole Sister Ramblers' London Sole Circle. Whether she's hiking, travelling, or embracing a new adventure, she believes some of life's greatest joys are found through movement, connection, and the friendships made along the way.
What are you most proud of?
I'm proudest of the two great humans—my sons—that I raised as a single mom.
What are five words that best describe you?
Kind. Brave. Inquisitive. Enthusiastic. Optimistic.
What is your favourite music?
Leonard Cohen.
His songs explore love, loss, and the complexities of human relationships. While often melancholy, they also radiate hope. His music became a great source of comfort to me after my partner, the love of my life, passed away.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Live in the moment. Enjoy every minute. Don't spend so much time worrying about the future or stressing over things you cannot change.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
The ability to heal people living with physical and mental disabilities. The world is tough enough without having to face those additional challenges.
What matters most to you at this stage of life?
To be joyful and kind, and never pass up an opportunity.
What is the bravest thing you've ever done?
While it wasn't something I ever wanted to do, by far the bravest thing I've ever done was carrying the ashes of the love of my life up the aisle at his funeral, then writing and delivering a love letter to him as my eulogy.
