This week, let's intend to embrace our bodies in all their beauty.
Our bodies are our constant companions, arriving with us at birth, and are the one thing that remains with us throughout our lives.
We do ourselves a disservice when we judge our bodies as too big, too small, too fat, too thin, and (especially at this point in our lives) too old! As we grow and evolve, so do our bodies. We'll be happier if we love them, remembering that our body is the best and most remarkable thing we'll ever own.
Midlife and beyond can be a complicated time for women, especially given societal stereotypes about aging and pressures related to appearance. Many of us struggle with unwelcome changes in physical appearance, feeling young on the inside but often experiencing shock when we look in the mirror and see an older woman staring back at us.
But, Sole Sisters, as we work together to create this supportive community with its brilliant, talented, amazing women, let's take a moment to honor our bodies. This is how we can change societal narratives about being older women.
Our bodies are aging but also active, strong, and up to the challenge of embracing the opportunities this time in our life presents us. And so, my Sole Sisters, as you ramble through your week, find time to LOVE your body in all its beautiful imperfections.
Dear body,
I love you
I accept you
I see you
I promise to cherish you all the days of my life.
