The 7 Sisters (Book Series) - Nomi's Pics

Naomi Weisman is a Canadian-Australian and mother of three, who loves to Ramble with her dog, cook for family and friends, and laugh whenever possible.

Okay, Sole Sisters—this one completely swept me away.

A while back, I reconnected with a friend I hadn’t seen since high school. In the course of catching up, she casually recommended a book series I had never heard of: The Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley. I had no idea then that I was about to disappear into a literary world that would stay with me long after the final page.

Each book in the series is substantial—ranging from 500 to 750 pages—but don’t let that intimidate you. These are true page-turners. I became immersed almost immediately and found myself moving through the entire eight-book series at a pace that even surprised me. In hindsight, I wish I had slowed down a little, because I genuinely missed the sisters once I was done.

Here’s the premise in a nutshell: the enigmatic and elusive billionaire Pa Salt dies, leaving each of his six adopted daughters a clue to her true heritage. Each novel follows one sister on a deeply personal journey to uncover the story of her birth family, weaving together past and present in a beautifully constructed time-slip narrative.

The historical threads in each book are grounded in real events and real figures, which sent me down more than a few Wikipedia rabbit holes. The contemporary storylines bring in romance, family dynamics, and intrigue, creating a rich and engaging blend that kept me turning pages late into the night.

The scope of these books is extraordinary. Through the sisters’ journeys, you travel to Switzerland, Brazil, Norway, England, Ireland, Greece, Spain, Kenya, New York City, and France. Along the way, you encounter British royalty and their mistresses, famous composers, civil rights activists, authors, and even members of the IRA. The settings and details are richly drawn without ever feeling overwhelming.

One of the aspects I found especially fascinating was the exploration of the Seven Sisters star cluster in the Pleiades and the Greek mythology behind it. Each book touches on the cultural significance of this constellation in different parts of the world, adding an unexpected and beautiful layer of meaning to the stories.

Although I read the series in publication order, the way the stories intertwine means they can be enjoyed out of sequence if needed. If you are looking for a series that will truly transport you—one that grabs you from the first chapter and doesn’t let go—this is it.

I was captivated from beginning to end, and I suspect many of you will be too. This is storytelling at its most indulgent and satisfying.

 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Nomi’s Verdict:
A deeply absorbing, beautifully researched series that blends history, romance, and family secrets in the most satisfying way. If you love being transported through time and place, The Seven Sisters is an absolute must-read.
