Bonnie Boucher- Rambler Profile

Bonnie Boucher- Rambler Profile

Bonnie Boucher was born in Bathurst, raised on the Gaspé Peninsula, and now lives in Calgary, where she embraces a slower, more intentional chapter of life built around connection, curiosity, and joy. A passionate reader, traveller, and active member of Sole Sister Ramblers, Bonnie values meaningful experiences, strong relationships, and the freedom to live life fully on her own terms.

Where were you born, and where do you call home now?

I was born in Bathurst, grew up on the Gaspé Peninsula, and now call Calgary home. I’m fluent in French (a gift I’m very grateful for) and have always loved the doors bilingualism has opened for me.

What does this stage of life look and feel like for you?

Late mornings, coffee in bed, and slow, lazy days are very much my vibe. I’m 58, happily married, and fully embracing a slower, more intentional way of living. I retired almost three years ago—earlier than planned and under unexpected circumstances—but once the initial surprise passed, I trusted myself, took the leap, and made it happen. Funny how a dream you casually put out into the universe in your twenties can actually come true.

How has your perspective on life and relationships evolved?

At this stage of life, I’ve discovered the joy of doing things my own way and caring far less about what others think. I live to please myself and to honour the loving relationship I share with my husband—nothing more, nothing less. This is my second marriage, and I truly believe I found my soulmate. It was worth the wait.

Tell us about your family and what brings you joy outside of travel and Rambling.

I don’t have children of my own, but my husband has two sons and five grandchildren who add a lot of joy to our lives. I’m looking forward to the day he retires so we can travel more freely and explore the world together, soaking in new experiences along the way.

What are some of your favourite hobbies and interests?

I love reading, golf, and Pilates, and I’m an active part of the Sole Sister Ramblers Cookbook and Book Clubs. I’ve met some truly wonderful people through this community and look forward to continuing to build meaningful connections.
