Originally from London and now based in Perth, Australia, Anji is a Pediatric Clinical Nurse with a deep passion for caring for others. Outside of work, she loves exploring Western Australia’s stunning hiking trails, where she finds both challenge and renewal in nature.
What are you most afraid of?
Spiders! No matter how many I see in Australia, they still make my skin crawl.
What is the bravest thing you’ve ever done?
Leaving my controlling, coercive, abusive ex-husband. It was the hardest decision of my life, but also the most empowering, and it’s given me the freedom to truly live life on my own terms.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
I’d love the ability to heal people instantly. In my line of work, I see so much pain and suffering — being able to take that away would be the ultimate gift.
What is something you do every day now that you did not do before you were 45?
I make time for myself. Whether it’s a quiet cup of tea, a walk in nature, or just saying “no” when I need to, I finally learned the importance of self-care and boundaries.
What is the best thing that happened to you recently?
The birth of my first grandchild. Becoming a grandmother has opened up a whole new chapter of joy, love, and cuddles I never imagined.
Where is your favorite place to Ramble, and why do you love it?
I have two! The Cape to Cape Track — it’s diverse, challenging, and absolutely stunning. No two rambles are ever the same, which is why I’m about to do it for the fourth time. And anywhere along the Bibbulmun Track, where the vastness and beauty of WA’s bushland always remind me how lucky I am to live here.
What is your favorite thing to make for dinner?
Curry and all the trimmings, made completely from scratch. I love the process — chopping, simmering, layering spices — and the reward of sharing it with family or friends.
What is on your nightstand?
A bedside lamp, my “happy ears” (for a good night’s rest), a trusty radio, and whatever book I’m currently lost in. Books are my way of winding down and ending the day with something that inspires or transports me.
