Hallmark Holiday Blue Cheese (Movies)- Nomi's Pics

Naomi Weisman is a Canadian-Australian and mother of three who loves to ramble with her dog, cook for family and friends, and laugh whenever possible.

As many of you know, I don’t celebrate Christmas, but that certainly doesn’t stop me from embracing the season. I adore the twinkling lights, the festive music, and the general atmosphere of warmth and good cheer that fills the air.

There are two Christmas movies I watch every year without fail. The first is Love Actually, with Hugh Grant as the charmingly awkward, stuttering British Prime Minister who falls for his foul-mouthed secretary. And, of course, there's the legendary Bill Nighy as a washed-up, drugged-out rock star who reluctantly records a sugary Christmas song that unexpectedly shoots to the top of the charts. It’s pure, heartwarming chaos.

The second is The Holiday, where the notion of Jack Black as a romantic lead opposite Kate Winslet is simply delicious. And let’s not forget Jude Law, effortlessly playing the sensitive, vulnerable, weepy opposite of Cameron Diaz’s uptight, stoic, workaholic character. The whole film is a beautiful contradiction, and I never tire of it.

Of course, I’ll be watching these two classics again this year, but I've also joined a group chat with some friends where we share the sappiest, cheesiest Hallmark holiday movies we've blissfully wasted time on. It’s a fun new tradition, and I can't wait to see what ridiculous gems are suggested!

The other night, I was watching Christmas in Rome with my partner Brian, my son Max and his girlfriend. The movie was as cheesy as they come, and it was clear that Max was struggling through the experience. At one point, he groaned, “OMG, Mom, seriously? This is so [expletive] terrible, but I just can't stop watching!” And just like that, we’ve coined a new term for those irresistibly cringey Hallmark classics: Blue Cheese.

My group chat has compiled a list of all the Hallmark movies we’ve watched so far this year. We haven’t rated them yet, but one thing’s for sure: they’ve all provided a welcome escape from the chaos of daily life and our relentlessly negative news feeds.

Picture this: everyday women being swept off their feet by charming royalty under the mistletoe, widowed single fathers finding love again thanks to their impossibly adorable, ringlet-haired daughters, and middle-aged women, newly divorced, discovering romance while on an unexpected safari. Pure escapism at its finest.

Here is our list so far:

Christmas in Nottinghill

Meet Me Next Christmas

Christmas in Rome

Holiday in the Vineyards

Crown for Christmas

Christmas in the Wild

A Royal Date for Christmas

A Christmas in Scotland

Christmas With You

A Paris Christmas Waltz

Hot Frosty

I Believe in Santa

Christmas Island

What have you been watching? Anything extra (blue) cheesy that we shouldn't miss?
