Past Lives (Movie) - Nomi's Pics

Naomi Weisman is a Canadian-Australian and mother of three who loves to ramble with her dog, cook for family and friends, and laugh whenever possible.

Past Lives is a good old-fashioned, slow-moving romance that takes the audience on an emotional journey spanning continents and decades. It tells the story of Nora (Greta Lee) and Hae-sung (Teo Yoo), childhood friends in South Korea whose lives diverged when Nora's family emigrated to Canada.

The film skillfully interweaves their separate journeys, filled with missed connections, touching reunions, and the constant presence of their shared history.

Greta Lee, whom some of you will know from The Morning Show, is masterfully cast in this role. She has a quiet confidence mixed with emotional depth, and I loved watching her move between cultures. She is magnetic to watch.

Teo Yoo made a believer out of me. It was so lovely to see a man have such depth of feeling. His performance is nuanced and emotionally resonant. It was refreshing to witness a man so in love and vulnerable.

This evocative film allows the audience to move through childhood, friendship, family, the displacement of moving far away from everything you know, new beginnings, and thoughts of what might have been. It is honest and delicate, and it opens up a dialogue within ourselves of what might have been in our own experience.

If you are in the mood for a love story, this is it! Let me know what you think in the comments!
