New York, New York - Rambling Style Files

Rambling essentials from fashion to recipes to gear and everything in between. Style Files is the creation of Jill Cohen Morris, an avid rambler, mother of two from Toronto, Canada with a remarkable zest for life, a fabulous sense of humor and remarkable style (of course).

Hey, Sole Sisters!

It’s time for my rambling style files, where I discuss all things rambling, from fashion to recipes to gear and everything in between.

I’m in one of my favorite cities for a few days… New York City. It’s an easy flight from Toronto, so I come quite often. I ramble everywhere; my daily steps are upwards of 30,000. Excellent rambling and people watching … two of my favorite pastimes!!

When in NYC ( or any big city), I like to ramp up my rambling style while still being comfortable. After all, I am in the fashion capital of North America, possibly the world.

I’m in and out of stores, galleries, restaurants, and shows. It’s excruciatingly hot now, so I take that into account.

My number one recommendation is flare or bell-bottom leggings. They elevate any outfit, are super comfortable, are easy to ramble in, and flatter any body type. The wide bottom allows your legs to breathe.

I add a loose T-shirt or tank. I like the crispness of white. I layer with a button-down shirt (linen is great because wrinkles don’t matter), which I leave unbuttoned. It keeps the sun off my arms and gives my outfit a polished look.

I throw on a cool bucket hat. If you know me, you know I’m addicted to bucket hats. I love how they fit and protect the back of my neck from the sun.

I finish my look with a big bum bag, which I wear crossbody for a pop of color. I like a men’s bag as it tends to be bigger and can fit a bottle of water.

Oh, and of course, my beloved Hokas and funky sunglasses!!

Happy Rambling!
