Easy Good Granola - Rambling Style Files

Rambling essentials from fashion to recipes to gear and everything in between. Style Files is the creation of Jill Cohen Morris, an avid rambler, mother of two from Toronto, Canada with a remarkable zest for life, a fabulous sense of humor and remarkable style (of course).

Hey, Sole Sisters!

It’s time for my rambling lifestyle files, where I discuss all things rambling, from fashion to recipes to gear and everything in between.

Let’s talk granola … I love granola!!

Granola is a great snack to have pre or post ramble. You can sprinkle it on top of a smoothie, add it to greek yogurt with some fruit. You can even make a thicker smoothie (add more ice), pour it in a bowl, drizzle some nut butter, top with granola and any other toppings you might love...  delicious! I also love it plain … a handful curbs my sweet craving.

I use chia, flax and hemp seeds. They are a great source of plant-based protein, fiber, healthy fatty acids and a variety of minerals. They contain omega-3 fatty acids which help improve brain function and boost the immune system.

Here is the recipe… feel free to get creative by switching the nuts and seeds. You can even add dried fruit or chocolate chips once baked. The possibilities are endless. I promise, this is a foolproof recipe with very little prep time and easy clean up.

Ingredients:

4 cups large flake oats
½ cup raw slivered almonds
½  cup raw shelled pumpkin seeds
½ cup raw sunflower seeds
¼ cup flax seeds
¼ cup chia seeds
¼ cup hemp hearts
¾ cup maple syrup
½ cup melted coconut oil
Cinnamon (optional)

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit
  • Cover baking sheet with parchment paper
  • Melt coconut oil (microwave for 30 seconds)
  • Put all nuts, seeds and cinnamon in bowl
  • Add maple syrup and coconut oil
  • Mix well
  • Spread mixture on baking sheet
  • Bake for 20 minutes
  • Let cool for a minimum of 30 minutes before removing from the sheet … this allows it to form and harden
  • Store in an airtight container for a few weeks

Fill up a mason jar, Add some ribbon. And voila, the perfect hostess gift!!

Happy Rambling!
